The 53-year-old actor was snapped arriving in Nice, France, on Sunday, June 18, with his War Machine producing partner, Dede Gardner.
Photos below purportedly show the Suburban arriving in Hollywood Hills this past Saturday morning. Even up close, the SUV's tint is virtually impenetrable and from that distance it is clearly impossible for them to tell who or what, if anything, is inside.
E had the report first and People followed a day later with a near identical report save for the addition that Brad was also seen at the airport on his way to France. Tellingly, neither mentioned the reason for the timing of the family's trip which was to celebrate World Refugee Day in Africa. Both reports are obviously merely relying on the paparazzi and have no input from legitimate sources.
For one thing, it is very difficult to see inside their compound (or the DeMille) other than from the air, and it is just as difficult to see inside the heavily tinted Suburban. Paparazzi are posted across the street from the gates of their Hollywood Hills neighborhood and Laughlin Park (see above and also photo below and the recent tree delivery photos). They aren't allowed to crowd around the gates. They can see the vehicles entering the street but only from a distance. In the case of the Suburban, they obviously couldn't tell if there were any passengers at all given the opaqueness of the tint. They didn't "see" kids being dropped off-- they were just guessing. As with most of their recent reports, both E and People embroidered the vague sighting into a story and omitted the photos since it would make it obvious that the story was mere speculation.
We know they use the same vehicles -- the Suburban and the Toyota Sienna Minivan and probably several others currently in their possession. There is more parking space inside their compound especially if the garage of the DeMille is still stacked with boxes. We saw the Suburban parked on the street outside the gate of the DeMille two weeks ago. At a time when they are still settling in the DeMille, their cars likely shuttle back and forth frequently with people and belongings.
It would be fairly easy for paparazzi in LAX to snoop around and learn their destination but they failed to guess the purpose. If any legitimate source was willing to talk to any of the outlets, they would have learned and prominently mentioned the reason for the trip. ET, which has had access to their sources in the past, has a photo of him arriving in Nice but no other info and it just quotes from E's earlier report.
The conclusion is none of their usual sources are willing to say anything to any of the outlets at this time. No quote, no comment, no confirmation or denial, no info. Nothing from any source. They obviously gave out instructions that are being very strictly followed. The secrecy and total control are typical of Angelina and indicate that she has taken command and everyone is toeing the line. It is probably worth remembering that she is methodical and does not like to rush.
- Brad was able to slip into LAX while avoiding the paparazzi--- but he was still seen and recognized and his presence reported. He almost certainly is headed to Miraval.
- I wrote in a previous post: In the past, most of their security would turn back once they entered the airport's restricted area. There seems little need for them to be surrounded by guards beyond that point since the unruly paparazzi can't go in. So it is a bit curious that so many -- at least 7 -- continued to accompany them inside. They evidently gave airport authorities a good reason why they needed that number of guards in an already secure area. Counting the drivers of the vehicles they arrived in, they had close to a dozen security when they arrived at the airport -- an unusually large number even for them. Unless of course many of the guards are traveling with them, which is not altogether impossible. If secrecy and control are typical of Angelina, extraordinary security measures are typical of Brad.
- No word on the family's first stop after LAX from where they presumably caught a connecting flight to their final destination, and no transit or arrival photos.
- We know we will see them -- or at least Angelina -- tomorrow for World Refugee Day but it is interesting that there have been no photos since they departed L.A. two days ago. The exact opposite is true for Brad whom we didn't see leaving but has allowed himself to be photographed upon arrival in Nice.
Brad Pitt Celebrated an Early Father's Day with a Visit From His Kids
By Jodi Guglielmi Posted on
Brad Pitt‘s Father’s Day gift came a little early this year.
The actor celebrated the special occasion with his kids on Saturday. Several of the children were seen being dropped off at Pitt’s Los Angeles house in the morning.
The kids spent time with their father before heading to the airport with their mother Angelina Jolie. Pitt was also seen at the airport before flying to France.
Pitt previously opened up about how he’s moving forward since announcing the end of his 12-year relationship and two-year marriage with Jolie. The War Machine actor said he’s been spending his time “keeping the ship afloat” and “figuring out the new configuration of our family” these days.
“Kids are everything,” he said, of his six children — Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, 10, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 8. “Kids are your life. They’re taking all the focus, as they should anyway.”
Meanwhile, Jolie has been finishing up post-production on First They Killed My Father, a drama due on Netflix this fall about the Khmer Rouge genocide in Cambodia.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's Kids Spend Time With Him Before Father's Day
Brad Pitt got an early Father's Day present—some quality time with his kids.
Several of the children spent several hours at Pitt's house in Los Angeles Saturday morning. They were seen being dropped off in a Suburban.
They later returned to Jolie's home and she and all six kids then made their way to LAX, en route to a weekend trip to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where the actress adopted Zahara in 2005, E! News has learned exclusively.

Brad Pitt spent Father's Day this year overseas.
The 53-year-old actor was snapped arriving in Nice, France, on Sunday with his War Machine producing partner, Dede Gardner. Pitt looked as handsome as ever, sporting a simple gray sweater and sunglasses.
Pitt did spend time with several of his children at his home in Los Angeles on Saturday morning, E! News reports. The children then reportedly returned to their mother Angelina Jolie's home, before all six kids -- 15-year-old Maddox, 13-year-old Pax, 12-year-old Zahara, 11-year-old Shiloh and 8-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox -- went to Los Angeles International Airport for a trip to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where Jolie adopted Zahara in 2005.
Last month, a source told ET that the Pitt-Jolie family is "in a much better place" after the actor sought counseling for his drinking by attending meetings at a discrete location in Los Angeles. Pitt revealed he stopped drinking alcohol in his candid tell-all with GQ Style in May.
"Pitt has worked very hard to get his kids back and the whole family is in a much better place," the source said.
In April, Pitt had his first overnight visit with all six of his kids since his split from Jolie.
Despite the caption that accompanied the photo below, no part of the DeMille is visible from this gate into Laughlin Park. There are a few other gates.
